  1. I am an avid "New Content" user, and I want to make sure everyone knows the feature is still here - and that @Hells Warrriormade it specifically to fill the void after the developers of the forum software cut it out.

In the top menu, under My Activity Streams - you will find New Topics & Posts.

    0fe34a79210fef47869f43a6a722464b.gif

From there, you can switch between Expanded View (chronologically showcasing the most recent threads, and most recent post in that thread) and Condensed View (chronologically showcasing the most recent threads).

It's going to take some getting used to.  Please keep in mind that these are changes we requested, but something that is uniform with the version of software created by developers.  When these updates roll out, we just roll with the punches.

We will work on getting appropriate usertitle colors incorporated back into the Activity Stream section

  2. Hello, welcome, and allons-y.  I am The Doctor (10th Doctor if you're a fan of the show, 11th if you're truly counting )

In a tradition that started last year by @Boom (I believe?), Halloween is almost upon us - and it is custom to don costumes in accordance.

    What's Allowed as a Costume:

    - Any character from any medium (books, TV, games, movies)
    - Any personality living or dead (From DJ Vahn to Michael Jackson)
    - Any CODZ community member*

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's Not Allowed as a Costume:

    - Anything leak releated
    - Anything pornographic

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    * if you dress up as a forum member, it should be an act of love.  Treat your costume with respect, don't act like a jerk, certainly don't dress up as a forum member to make fun of them.  This is a fun, positive thing - please don't make us have to change around the rules because someone thought it would be a good idea to dress up as TAMB and post profanely throughout the entire forum.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Guidelines:

    - Stay in character!!!
    - Be tricky, change your profile information as well (Location, etc.)
    - Have fun
    - Names will be reverted in/around/after the holiday weekend

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    How to change your name:

    - Mouse up to the top right, and click on your name, then click on "account settings"

    27b3cebed59e9382916cc1777aa6d3f7.gif

    - Once in account settings, scroll over to "Display Name", click on it, enter your desired costume, and hit "save"

    Voila!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    One Last thing:

We as staff reserve the right to intervene with any costume, or action we deem inappropriate.  This is meant to be a FUN event, let's keep it that way!
  3. That depends on if Der Riese takes place before or after Shi No Numa, since at the moment there isn't really a clear answer because of the Giant.

    This.

There was never anything concrete saying Der Riese took place after Shi No Numa, so if they want to switch up the timeline it looks like they can.

Personally, I'm hoping its all explained somehow where the Giant had already happened and Richtofen still does all those things. Like the Giant is just another MotD hell map or if somehow the new Richtofen ends up taking the others place. For instance, if this map ends with the Origins Richtofen going back in time another year or 10 years or something, is involved in some of the radio transimisions we've heard, and then frees the group at SNN. Then the O4 arrive at Der Riese right after this map. As long as the original story is upheld, I'll be happy.

How do you explain the revamped Shi No Numa radio that says that overloading the teleporter sent them to Kino and the Kino loading screen that corroborates that?  How did they get to Kino from SNN, where there's no teleporter there?

I think the larger question is - how would there be a teleporter at all? Even if SNN took place after The Giant, Richtofen kills his older self that invented the teleporter w/ maxis. Hence, wouldn't that time ripple set forth a reality in which teleporters weren't created? Unless Maxis made one?

    My head hurts.

But remember, he kills his older self in 1945, so the teleporters are already working.  Exhibit A: he just sent Maxis and Sam through one.  Therefore, there would be no issues with the teleporters existing.

D'oh, I keep forgetting that The Giant doesn't take place immediately after Origins.  Good point @Tac

  5. @Hells Warrrior @Covert Gunman

Alright so Covy was saying that we should add a custom info section, which I agree with.  Here's a mock up of how I picture:

    EqyfejY.png

So the "info" section will only be viewable after you've clicked on an LFG post and are in the "View Group" pop up.  The "info" section would allow you to include specifics about your play type.  The information in this section will not factor into the filters, or anything like that.

p.s. @NaBrZHunter not saying that you smoke, just using your post as an example!

  6. @RedDeadRiot @NaBrZHunter @way2g00d @Hells Warrrior Okay so I've done a little draft of how we'd like the filters to be separated.  At the moment there is just one long filter list, this is not what we intend.  Look below to see what it will be like:

    zifa7sC.png

Game: Waw, BO, BO2, BO3 (with the idea that we'll add in Extinction & Exo Zombies after nailing it down)
    Mode: Zombies, Campaign, MP
Map: Any map that is out, arranged by game, and further more chronologically (we will look into customs, might have to be it's own filter)
Play Style: This will be the bread and butter of the LFG function.  EE, Speed Run, High Rounds, Casual, Research, Point Building (for building up your bank bucks), etc.

    Back soon with more!!!! :D

  7. Alright so, quickly here to address a few things:

@way2g00d in the top right of the top menu, it should say "codz lfg".  On mobile, it will be on the slide out menu towards the bottom.

@RedDeadRiot the LFG is like a middle man.  After you find a like minded game, it's up to you to initiate contact using the little message icon (currently linked to email, but are hoping to have it link to gamertag messages as well).  You could also just message the person via their gamertag.

@NaBrZHunter totally get what you are saying.  Need to confirm first.

    Back soon, guys!

  8. Yeah @Lenne that was my point, games that are essentially broken without a day 1 patch are not cool, and make the whole concept of the day 1 patch seem like its a method for the devs to procrastinate.

Day 1 patch is something that should be expected, but a broken game? Not so much.

@Slade I couldn't even get local split screen campaign to work on MCC. What a total mess, huh? Traded that shit in for DAI like a week later.

Why would they have a day 1 patch and not just, you know release the game with it working and not needing a patch for a while? Sorry if it seems like I am asking as if you know, its just day 1 patches kinda bug me.

    <cracks knuckles, and puts on professor's cap>

So - when David Vondehaar tweeted that BO3 had gone gold, it was September 22nd. The game releases on November 6th. The reason why they have a day 1 patch is because it represents all the work and fine tuning they've done from Sept 23-Nov. 6.

These games run along meticulously planned budgets, and schedules - from marketing, to development, to QA testing.  Ever since internet connectivity arrived, this schedules are essentially more flexible because it allows devs to continue to work on games after its gone gold, and even well after the release date.

As I said above, the past was quite grim on this aspect - in the sense that if you shipped a broken game, it stayed a broken game.

Short answer to why they have a day 1 patch: because they are unable to work on physical copies after the game goes "gold", and they can't just sit around twiddling their thumbs - hence they continue working.

Day 1 patches shouldn't bug you, if the game is up to par. You should in fact be happy for day 1 patches, because they represent an evolution in progress and quality.  Not to mention ongoing, they are a form of direct rapport between gamer and studio, as often the experiences/details/reports from those who play often effect what makes it into a patch.

  10. Mr. Way, I'll miss you in the staff chat.

i still remember when we all played ORIGINS at like 4am when it first came out, and we were all screaming about the panzer soldat (aka the rapist).  Have never laughed that hard, or been so terrified while playing zombies in all my life.

@Lenne wasn't kidding though, you do look sexier in purple.

This isn't goodbye, because you're not leaving. Just a new step. Thanks again for all your hard work man.

  11. I swear to god if I see a day one patch on this I am going to flip my sh*t.

Having a day 1 patch is not a bad thing in this instance.  The game is (presumably) well tuned, and the patch will fix any minor issues/fine polishing that they did not get to before it went gold.

I agree though that games that are NOT functional without a day 1 patch (looking at you Tony Hawk) are super lame.

Hell, it beats the gaming days of before Internet... when glitches were forever.
