Wonder Weapons need to go back to being Box weapons

Hear me out. I'm not one who dislikes the complex angles that recent maps are like. I enjoy them. But I'm getting tired of doing the tedious quests to upgrade the Wonder Weapons, let alone acquire them.

There is so much you need to do to get the upgraded KT-4, the upgraded Bow's, and I imagine the same for the upgraded Apothicon Servant. What I think needs to happen, to keep both the complex and simple sides happy, is to make it like Mob of the Dead's Blundergat/Acid Gat. You can straight up upgrade it to The Sweeper through Pack-a-Punch, or through the Acid Gat Kit, you can than Pack-a-Punch it into the Vitrolic Withering. Two different upgraded Wonder Weapons, that's the goal.

So ideally, what I would have liked for the KT-4.

  • Obtain from Mystery Box
  • Pack-a-Punch it into Upgraded Weapon 1

OR

  • Go through the normal side quest to upgrade to Masamune/Upgraded Weapon 2.

 

You might be thinking that getting it from the box is too simple/luck reliant. Well I think it should be. We have Specialist Weapons in Zombies now, and I'd consider them on par with Wonder Weapons. I am fine with those being obtained through side-quests like they already are. But since they are, I really don't think a side quest should be done to gain the Wonder Weapon itself than. It's just too much for me honestly.

I am 100% with you. I also liked the randomization of the wonder weapon, otherwise, you always have folks who scramble to get it before others, compete for it, and shout "I claim the ____." If they had stayed in the box, none of that would have happened. I love having backstory, but you didn't need a sidequest to get backstory. Black Ops' wonder weapons had the best backstories to date and they all came from the box.

Have you ever played with randoms?

If the box is in one of the first rooms you cannot go further because all of them spend their money on the box and if they dont get it they leave the game.... happens to me since kino der toten

 

I would love to see the box only active if power is active 

 

Further i think the upgraded bows are too easy to get/ the steps are ok -but if you think of the as or the masamune i agree with you - 

 

If there are steps you must do to get the ww i hope they will be random and the order isnt always the same and you must search for hibts what you have to do this time  - i actually liked the challenges in zns why not make it like this?

On the Island of Despair, let someone craft the wonderweapon, then roll it form the box yourself.

I very rarely go for the wonder weapons now all depends on how I feel when playing Zombies and if I can be bothered, But I totally agree with you on the them being box weapons.

I completely disagree, getting the wonder weapon(s) on low rounds gives me something to do. When playing The Giant I feel I'm always looking for something else to do when it gets to the end of the round, which is why I usually get bored playing that map now

I get bored of doing the Bows, I've only upgraded the Void, Lighting and Wolf haven't even attempted the Fire yet as the Upgrade Quests drags on and I get bored, However I don't mind doing the KT-4 and Skull of Nan Sapwe they seem easier to me to get done.

Considering how powerful they are, I feel it's fair that the bows take that long. The KT-4 isn't really as good as the bows, so the time to get it is quite fair in my mind. The Skull of Nan Sapwe only really takes time because of all the doors but it again is still fair for what it is

Totally agree with you on how powerful the bows are and I only ever get the KT-4 so I can get down to kill the spider boss, Then I swap it for a box weapon.

That's fair enough I guess. I haven't played ZNS enough to work out a proper strategy and actually test the KT-4's ability to get me out of corners and whatever, but I think I'd probably keep it and have a Blast Furnace VMP on my back. The reason I don't see the need for box wonder weapons is because of the repacks, which basically make the wall weapons wonder weapons in their own right. On DE I don't even use the storm bow, I usually just use the Blast Furnace Corcuta unless I'm stuck in a corner

What about the good old box-huggers that never buy doors and either quit or spam the mic and message thing when you seem to get the wonder weapon? 

Now you just do a quest and if you complete it, you should be the one that gets rewarded for it. I think...

I'm not even sure. It also depends on how you play. 

 

I'd love to see some more interesting stuff in the box though. 

Remember all the fun stuff that was in the box? 

 

Flamethrower, Molotovs

Crossbow

Ballistic knife

QED, EMP,

And many more!

I hope in the future, the wall weapons, but also a few box weapons will become less good. Almost all guns are pretty good full auto guns, except the Sheiva and MX garand. I miss weapons like the M14, balistic knife and FAL. And the raygun should become a bit more rare. Every game I play now I or one of my teammates receive it.

Since you can shoot the webs in the doorways on ZNS, the Raygun finally has some use to it. 

But I agree, it's harder to get something you want than the Raygun. 

 

Aren't the M14 and the Sheiva the same thing? 

Just as the MX Garant is a re-skinned FAL? 

 

BTW, I agree on OP that MotD has the best wonder weapon system. 

I actually don't like the green variety, but getting a spork is worth the annoyance.

I hate box hugger's and gamer's that don't buy doors, I always find that with Randoms on The Giant so when they're off running around the map doing stuff, I kill the last zombie and set the trap off so they can't get back to the catwalk MUAHAHAHAHA

I'd like both options.

 

Some maps should be easy in, quick action. Not much to do but play. WW(s) in box. Easy for noobs and unskilled, quick for good players with limited time. THESE SHOULD HAVE NO BULLSHIT; NO FIRE CRACKS, NO MARGWAS, NO ELEVATORS, NO THEIVING CREATURES, NO ASSANINE BUILDABLES, NO MISSING OR DELAYED PERKS, NO PAP CHORES! Even a 20 minute game will cover a decent amount of rounds. A DLC would come with 2-3 small to medium maps of this ilk, or 1 larger one. 

 

And the other maps should be the longer, more tedious/arduous set ups, 4 craftable WWs so each player has a chore, and more rewards for more work. 2-5 hour 4 player games, long solo games expected. A DLC (or stock) map of this ilk would be 1 large map only.
