In the theory community, the twists and turns that have come in Zombies from the end of Black Ops 2 forward has produced a bit of controversy in the community. Some love the additions, while others aren't as affectionate. But, of course, this too applies to the gameplay community with the introduction of thrashers, spiders, and of course swimming! Because of this, let's discuss! What are your thoughts on the map as a whole, and the various mechanics, weapons and features that have been implemented?

Personally, I'm all for a harder map. Honestly, I'd love to play the map en-mass. However there are SEVERAL aspects of this map that concern me GREATLY.

For starters, the easter egg. (Spoilers will be Spoilers)

Spoiler

The easteregg was WAY too simplistic and WAY too short. For those who don't know, the easter egg consists of

-Getting all the basic things: Skull of Nan Sapwe, Challenges, Masamune, ect. I don't consider any of that part of the easter egg, I consider these "steps" as basic weaponry set-up. For example, in Moon, getting the gersh devices, QEDs, and the wave gun isn't considered a step.

1-Using the skull of Nansapwe on some walls

2-Feeding any generic seed 3 blue buckets of water, getting the anti-aircraft bullet, and shooting down the plane that flies overhead. Collect gear 1.

3-Electrifying your sheild and dropping a player off on the zipline. Collect gear 2.

4- This one really irks me: GET THE "ANYWHERE BUT HERE GOBBLE GUM AND USE IT TO TELEPORT TO A SECRET ROOM IN THE MAP. If this truly is how you get to this location for this gear, I'm disgusted. I'm all for hiding a dragon easter egg up there that doesn't effect gameplay, but is cool. However when you make it MANDATORY to get up there to do the easter egg, that's where I draw the line. Even if this is a classic gobble-gum, we shouldn't have to sacrifice space in our packs for ABH, just to do the easter egg. Not to mention, teleporting in there is randomized as well.

5- Ride the elevator and kill the boss. Simplistic and boring. Honestly I could consider this the spider boss 2.0.

Honestly the whole thing was a letdown, so many mechanics were left unused. Like the Masamune's speed-up feature. OH YEAH! Walk through a Masamune-pit and you get a speed-boost. But we never saw that implemented like it SO EASILY could have.

However, I did enjoy the cut-scene at the end. (Oh come on that's not a spoiler we all know there would be one).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's clear however, this map is either too highly textured, or too poorly tested. All around, entire perk machines VANISH before your eyes due to entity limits. Exposed death-barriers everywhere.  It's really inexcusable.

I'm all for a big map, but when you start to sacrifice quality for the sake of having a map with X number of plant possibilities being the same gimmick for everything, I begin to doubt the process.

On the other hand, water in this map was incredible, love what they did with it. When the new mod tools come out, I'm going to see If I can't make an underwater box-map.

I also REALLY liked the sheild and how you can now use it to periodically charge items, reducing their price. Obvious custom mapping tool is obvious.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The plant thing is a HUGE letdown. I hate having to water plants repeatedly to get a desired outcome. The biggest drag being having to keep up with it for 3 rounds. With 4 types of water, it just becomes a big fetch-quest, even with the golden bucket.

The skull and the Massamune however,  I loved. I never use the sword, Ragnaroks, or annihilator, but I will be using that skull to REIN HAVOC! And while the K-t4 isn't the most EFFECTIVE weapon, it's upgraded form is still acceptable.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The gobble gums this time around were actually pretty good. We got one that freezes zombies (USEFUL), one that keeps the teddybear from appearing (and I want to see if this also keeps the teddy-bear-bottle from appearing in the Wonder Fizz) which is KINDA useful, then we have the one that makes drops last longer, although I don't know if that means it keeps drops from disappearing or if it extends the use of drops like insta-kill and death machines. The only real let down was the secret shopper on. At first glance it appears you can buy ammo for ANY gun you're holding by buying ammo from any wall chalk. Not true, you can only use it on guns that were originally from walls. So the bows? Yeah can't get ammo for those. Masamune? Nope. AS? No-sir-ee.

But nothing was as much of a let down as finding out that no new weapon kits were added. It's a shame I REALLY wanted to use the Marshal-16s in the giant... Maybe they'll be added in an update?

All in all, I give this map a 6/10 right now. It could be so much better, but unless we start to find more stuff, it isn't looking too good.

It's early days for me. I don't hate the map, but it's kinda over complicated. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though. Der Eisendrache is fairly simple and easy, where as ZNS pretty much the opposite. I do like the return of the Challenge Chest from Origins in the form of the Trials.

One thing I can certainly say I do not like is the amount of doors and how expensive they are. Three 1500 point doors in the Bunker? No thanks.

I played only 20 min so far and looking forward to play at the weekend

But i said it before and only can repeat: i dont like water...

In multiplayer water is nice and easy because you can "doublejump"... in zombies it only distract your view...

Further i checked the weapon kits and i am a little bit disappointed that nothing is added...

But i will check this all again this weekend

There are three new weapons, which you can't customize. Just like the raygun and the bootlegger.

What's questionable, is that like the Mr6, you can earn attachments for the razor-back.

We also saw the razor-back in Der Eisendrache. I'd suspect that eventually we WILL be seeing this weapon added too old maps with a weapon kit....

I'm pretty sure I've never seen attachments for the starter pistol... (xbox1) ?!
Razorback in DE? Is it in the box now?

I haven't played that much so far, but to me it seems that this is pretty much everything I could hate about zombies put in one map.

Maybe it will get better over time, but it is just too annoying to be an instant favorite of mine. I did feel the exact same way about Origins and when I finally gave it a chance and took the time to learn it, it became one of the most fun zombie maps for me, but that is the thing: I and a lot of other people don't have the time to learn all this stuff and master it.

That is why I love all of the BO1 maps the only complex thing about those were the completely optional side quests. It only took one or at most a few games to get the basics of it and then you were good to go.

After der Eisendrache and Shadows of Evil I had very high hopes and Treyarch completely crushed them. ;_;

Actually i lost a little the motivation to play zombies - no new weapon kits or new scopes to rank up.... i'm looking forward to do the ee in zns and earn the trophys but the psn always disconnect... i dont like spoilers or look others gameplay before i find out myself where to go and what to do - so far i got the skull,kt4 , gas mask, pap... i died at the big spider...

Someone knows if there is a ee if you kill all the spiders without missing a shot?

The midboss is far to weak (solo)

Died underwater 2 times - it feels like you get onehit killed by zombies?? (Without jug)

I will do some co-op and maybe i will change my mind... if psn fix their problems in germany...

In this map the deathmachine is actually useful

But the only thing i like so far are the challanges

I'll share my opinions about the features in this map and just overall how it plays :)

Let's start with how the map looks. It's a bit too dark but it makes it creepier and I like creepy maps. Though some places just feel too dark to see where you're going. I like how the map gives a bit Shi No Numa feels :)

The power system is a bit annoying I think. You have to put water in the generators to power up half the map for a limited time. To get the power going for the rest of the game you have to have the generators at the same time to open the bunker and turn on the power there... If it was just a simple switch there it'd be fine, but you have to do more stuff that takes time and effort :P

The spiders are quite easy though very innovative so that's a good thing. Also the spider boss is kinda cool and not too hard :) The trasher zombies are a bit annoying and the spores. Because it makes you unable to do anything if you breathe the spores. Though it's preventable with the gas mask. Trashers aren't that hard which makes it a bit meh for me :P

Random perk locations is nice cause it mixes up things a bit. Doesn't make the map harder but makes it feel a bit more fresh everytime you play it :)

The new weapons from the box were a bit miss for me... HP-40 is good, but you can't customize the attachments so... the garand is garbage (at least non paped), and marhals are quite good but not that great compared to other shotguns.

The wonder weapon reminds me of sliquifier and is actually pretty cool and useful :) only downside is that it's buildable :P Also the skull is the best "specialist" zombie weapon so far and only one I actually use :)

Underwater segments are something I dislike a bit... it's not that bad but I hope they don't use it on future maps cause it's a bit uhgh..

Then there's the plants... Kinda cool, kinda too much effort going to water these every round to get a plant. Gladly they're completely optional and you don't have to use them if you don't want so I'm fine with that :)

You can earn attachments for the Mr6 and the Razorback. The difference to normal weapons is that you can't access their weapon kits.

And no. Razorback is not in the DE box yet.

Yes I know, but it's just one plant and you can water it using only one bucket of water so you don't have to go back and forth to do it. I was referring more to just using the plants normally (not for the upgrade). They are helpful (at least the one you get from green water) but you can actually survive pretty well without using them.

Ahhhh got it! I haven't played it myself yet. I though you had to get new water each time too.
They're the new harvest pods or tram fuses. Sorta.

I haven't really figured out what to do with them or why I'd spend time gardening...
The zombie eating plant seemed glitched, it never at the zombie in the video I watched?!

Oh well, time will tell....

Well I have played ZNS a couple of times and not yet bothered to use the plants more than just a few trys of how they work... It would be better if you only had to water it once and then wait 3 rounds for it to grow. Anyways I think I'm not gonna play ZNS for a while cause out of maybe 6 games I've played everytime I have made it past round 20 there's an "SpawnErrorGC: fake entitities" or something like that (can't remeber what excactly it was) and it's kinda annoying since the map takes a lot of time to get set up :/

Again they have make a mistake... treyarch why you do this?

It destroyed the game with randoms on soe and now it destroys playing with randoms on zns...

On soe they fixed the inventory... now on zns you have to do the skull step.... but treyarch dont made a shared inventory and so you cannot go further because someone takes a skull and dont place it down...

Further my "team" taked all the buckets before the bunker and didnt know how to power the labs....

Edit: got in another game with randoms - its one of the best map for four players - if they know how to play the map (pr at least the game itself)- i liked it till the game crashed...

Psn "down"

The "zombie eating plant" actually dont eat the zombie - it cut the zombie off the feets and hold it for a while - actually good for get things done - you dont want to advance to the next rounds while doing the rituals in smal places...

I love this map.

I've been playing it for a good week solid now and I can say I haven't felt so W@W-esque in a long time. It really feels like they made this map all those years ago and have just been sitting on it, waiting to release it. Of course that's not the case, but other than buildables and the plants, they've made the sounds, textures and ambiance of the map just reeks classic zombies.

I'm actually a big fan of the plants, once you learn their recipes, having a crawler be held for a good period of time is perfect for all the small EE's they have scattered everywhere, and they even make it a crawler for you, how nice ^.^

The story is there, the classic feel is there, I'm more at home with zombies than I've been since BO1!

If I had to complain about anything (I usually do...) it would be the loading times of power ups, weapon skins, and sometimes doors that look open, but are just invisible and still need to be bought. It's beyond annoying when I'm in the heat of a hoard, low on ammo, see a green glow and run into it hoping for the best, and it was a nuke...

And lastly, does anyone else get a total frame crash when you buy the ICR off the wall next to the green 115 water? I haven't bought it from the bunkers yet but EVERYTIME me or my buddies buy it, it makes the game pause for maybe half a second. Not cools.....

The map is trash. full stop.
I knew it was going to be rushed but... my god... i didnt think it would be to this extent of garbage.
Garden Simulator? really? in zombies? in a shooting game got me watering plants... this is worse than tranzit not to mention that everybody who got the EE done are not returning to play.

The map is riddled with bugs, glitches, invisible, invincible zombies. I would rather play tranzit, never thought i would ever say this.

Link to comment

I like it because it's zombies, and every zombies map (including Tranzit) I don't really 'hate'. I do however think this map was kind of a bust for me, definitly not bad though.

The thing I dislike the most is Treyarch nerfing the Skull of Nan Sapwe to be utter shit so getting to higher rounds is tougher then ever. Another thing I dislike is the unnescesary tedious steps to get some essential things around the map like getting the KT-4 parts which takes forever and the Masamune takes even longer.

Even turning on the power is a chore and gets boring after doing it so many times you just want to stop playing it. Der Eisendrache it was simple to turn on the power, even Shadows of Evil has an easier way of powering up machines. And the plants that are completely useless once you complete the easter egg and have the clone plant. The Crawler Holder eventually gives out and the zombie comes back into the map, the Attack Plant is a nuisance when you are trying to keep one zombie alive and the zombie runs after it and lastly the Power-Up plant that is completely random and you don't know what you are going to get.

So I listed a lot of the negatives now let's talk about the positives.

The Easter Egg is obtainable solo and it was a lot of fun to crack by myself (Except for the god-forsaken gobblegum cog). The spiders are nice and weak and they aren't on your ass all the time like the dogs are. The Thrasher is definitely the best mini-boss so far, very unique and easier then the Margwa and the Panzer.  Of course the big spider boss battle was kick ass and getting unlimited free widows wine as a reward is amazing.

In conclusion, there are problems with this map. And this map I'm guessing is going to be the black-sheep DLC like Die Rise was. I know for a fact that DLC 3 and DLC 4 (If treyarch is awesome then DLC 5 as well) are going to be mind-blowing and a great zombie kill fest.

Let's not be absurd. The map IS ridiculously glitchy, but hopefully that will pass. Asside from that it's one of the harder maps in BO3, in a good way. Personally I'm hoping for a harder map in DLC 3, and then DLC4 can be a wild card.

But come on.

It's not as bad as tranzit.

Stop hating on Tranzit. It's just..... different.
Also... Die Riese, a black sheep?

I'm on Xbox1 and still waiting for the release, but the first room looks good.
I've heard the map is totally broken though. I can't remember old maps having so many issues.
Maybe Kino when it was released, but after that all was well.

It's all subjective just remember that, try not to take too much offence ;)

I agree with Poyuma, no zombies map have I actually ever hated, I don't play buried because of it being way too easy but other than that, I can't say they've made a map I hated.
