GobbleGum

First introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops III within the Zombie map known as “Shadows of Evil”, GobbleGum is an unusual but remarkable candy that causes effects to happen to somebody upon chewing. Created by the mysterious Dr. Monty, a member of Group 935 who also hemmed the creation of the Perk-a-Cola’s, GobbleGum is a seemingly new addition to the ever growing amount of utilities in the Zombies mode.

“Chew until you die!”

GobbleGum Machine:

Creator: Dr. Monty

Cost: 5¢ or 500 Points

Description: The GobbleGum Machine is a utility that dispenses GobbleGum. This will have a variety of different effects that can be triggered in different ways, all to help you survive the merciless fiends that lurk in the shadows.

Purchasing: When purchasing GobbleGum from the GobbleGum Machine, players will be given the message “Hold {Action Button} to dispense GobbleGum [500 Points]”. Buying a GobbleGum will lead to it being dispensed and players being given the message “Hold {Action Button} for {GobbleGum}”. Players will flick the GobbleGum into their mouth and chew it. The GobbleGum Machine can only be used once per round. Trying to purchase it again in a round will give players the message “Come back next round!”. If a GobbleGum is not taken from the GobbleGum Machine, it will flash and make seven beeps before returning the GobbleGum back into the pool. Picking up a GobbleGum while holding another will replace the already held one with the new one.

Liquid Divinium:

Liquid Divinium is the liquidised form of Element 115. It is contained in a glass vial that has a golden lid, with the Liquid Divinium itself being blue and giving off a warm glow. This acts as currency when dealing with GobbleGums and can be used in Dr. Monty’s Factory to obtain Mega GobbleGums.

This can be earned in two ways. It can be awarded to players when they either buy a Wall Weapon, tap the Mystery Box, open a door, buy a Perk-a-Cola, upgrade a weapon using the Pack-a-Punch Machine or using a Teleporter. Also, Liquid Divinium can be bought using COD Points. Obtaining Liquid Divinium is limited to only being possible twice a match. It can be used to power vats in Dr. Monty’s Factory.

Dr. Monty’s Factory:

“Welcome to Dr. Monty’s Factory! Here you can make the GobbleGums that might make the difference between surviving the zombie horde and becoming food for the undead.”

For the first time, players can now visit the elusive Dr. Monty’s Factory. Here they will see the manufacturing of the popular Perk-a-Colas, running across conveyor belts all around the building. But that is not all. Now you can view the production of the new and exciting GobbleGums! Not only can you see them being made first-hand, but you can create your very own flavours of GobbleGum that are exclusive for you to use.

“In Dr. Monty’s Factory, vials of Liquid Divinium are placed in vats for a random chance at one of 3 GobbleGum rarities. Activating one vat will give you one GobbleGum with a random chance of receiving a Rare or better. If you activate two or three vats, you’ll get more GobbleGums with an increasing chance of getting a Rare or Ultra-Rare.”

Upon entering the MegaChew Factory, three large vats will be seen. Along with this will be a Liquid Divinium counter, which contains how much Liquid Divinium you have. By using Liquid Divinium, each of the vats can be powered. This will cause them to shake and spin, until they dispense either a Mega Gobble Gum or Bonus Perk. The obtained items from the vats will be displayed in a glass tube.

The three options for powering the vats dictate the rarity of the Mega GobbleGum that can be obtained.

Power Up 1 Vat

This will cost only 1 Liquid Divinium and will have a chance to dispense any type of Mega GobbleGum.

2 Vats. Better Chance At Rare

This will cost 2 Liquid Divinium and will have a better chance at dispensing either a Rare Mega GobbleGum or an Ultra-Rare Mega GobbleGum.

3 Vats. Best Chance at Rare

This will cost 3 Liquid Divinium and will have the best chance at dispensing an Ultra-Rare Mega GobbleGum, but it will also have the chance to give a Common or Rare Mega GobbleGum too.

Pack:

A Pack is where GobbleGum is selected and stored to set up for a match. Whatever GobbleGum is in a players Pack will be what is available in the GobbleGum Machine within a match. Five GobbleGums can be stored in a Pack at a time. Players are given the selection of 10 customizable GobbleGum Packs that can be chosen from. Only one GobbleGum Pack can be equipped at a time and will be the only one available in a match.

Classic GobbleGum:

Available from both having a set of GobbleGum given to new players and from progressing through levels, Classic GobbleGums are a reliable candy which will help players to survive in many different ways. Three different types, distinguished by colours, give an indicator as to what activates the GobbleGum.

Classic GobbleGums are earned through rank progression in the Zombies game mode. The more you play the more you earn. Once unlocked, they’re always available to equip in your GobbleGum Pack.

Types:

Orange

This type of GobbleGum can activate under two circumstances, depending on the GobbleGum in possession of the player. Either the GobbleGum can be activated automatically upon obtaining it, or it will be activated under various circumstances.

Blue

This type of GobbleGum will activate through a round based system.

Purple

This type of GobbleGum can be activated by a player executing its use.

Green

This type of GobbleGum activates through a time based system.

Default:

Each of the Default GobbleGums are already accessible without having to unlock anything. Five GobbleGums in total are given to players as to give them an equal fighting chance when starting their battle against the hordes of the undead.

Mega GobbleGum:

Awarded through the use of Dr. Monty's Factory, Mega GobbleGums are powerful gumballs that will have drastically different effects to Classic GobbleGum. They come in three different tiers that are shown by patterns, giving levels of rarity to them. In addition to this they still retain different colours to show how they are activated.

Mega GobbleGums are created in Dr. Monty’s Factory using vials of Liquid Divinium. Mega GobbleGums deliver even more devastating anti-zombie effects in game. Once you chew a Mega GobbleGum in game, it’s gone until you create another from the vats.

Types:

The different types of Mega GobbleGum come in the form of patterns imprinted onto the gumball. While still keeping the same colour types as Classic GobbleGum to decide their function, they also have patterns to signify their rarity.

Rainbow Sprinkles:

This type of pattern indicates that the value is Common.

Blank Stripes:

This type of pattern indicates that the value of the Mega GobbleGum is Rare.

Illustrious Ripples:

This type of pattern indicates that the value of the Mega GobbleGum is Ultra-Rare.

Common:

By using Dr. Monty’s Factory, players will have the chance to earn a Common Mega GobbleGum. These are easiest to obtain by powering only a single vat, but are still possible to be obtained when powering any number of vats.

GobbleGum 101:

In Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies, GobbleGums can be an invaluable tool for survival. Alongside the wealth of weapons that you can unlock and equip throughout the onslaught, GobbleGums can provide much-needed offensive and defensive abilities, such as boosts in speed, increased damage, and more. So, how do you earn them? What can you use them for? Read on as we deliver a crash course in the zombie-dispatching benefits of GobbleGums.

What are GobbleGums?

GobbleGums are an all-new gameplay feature in Black Ops 3 Zombies. As mentioned, GobbleGums offer players consumable bonuses and abilities, which can be acquired through Dr. Monty’s GobbleGum Machines found in each map. As you defeat waves of zombies, you can use the points you’ve earned to randomly draw one of five default GobbleGums, each offering their own unique benefits for a limited time after they’re activated.

When you first start out in Zombies, you’ll be able to draw from five default GobbleGums within a match, but as you progress, you can unlock new variations and craft your own customizable GobbleGum Packs. Much like Create a Class in multiplayer, GobbleGum Packs let you personalize your Zombies kit to match your play style. Do you find yourself running straight into the fray? Create GobbleGum Packs that give you bonus melee damage or make you invisible to zombies for a brief window. Play more conservatively? Fill your pack with GobbleGums that make you recover faster or generate extra ammunition. You can also cater your GobbleGum Packs to offer an edge when playing solo or to complement the survival strategies of your group.
jxzQYmRZX41ssPUjaZHJN9YQfa9cwEutDECcH-nH

Classic GobbleGums Vs. Mega GobbleGums

There are two types of GobbleGums: Classic GobbleGums and Mega GobbleGums. Classic GobbleGums can be unlocked as you earn XP and rank up in Zombies and offer a variety of perks. Right off the bat, you have access to five Classic GobbleGums, including:

Classic GobbleGums:

Always Done Swiftly
Walk faster while aiming. Raise and lower your weapon to aim more quickly. Activates immediately and lasts 3 full rounds.

Arms Grace
Respawn with the guns you had when you bled out. Activates immediately and lasts until next respawn.

Coagulant
Longer bleedout time. Activates immediately and lasts for 20 minutes.

In Plain Sight
You are ignored by zombies for 10 seconds. Player activated. Comes with two activations for 10 seconds each.

Stock Option
Ammo is taken from your stockpile instead of your weapon’s magazine. Activates immediately and lasts for three minutes.

Mega GobbleGums:

Mega GobbleGums, on the other hand, offer more rare and powerful bonuses and can only be unlocked by using Vials of Liquid Divinium in Dr. Monty’s Factory- more on this in a moment. There are a wide array of Mega GobbleGums for you to discover, but here are a few examples:

Pop Shocks
Melee attacks trigger an electrostatic discharge, electrocuting nearby zombies. Auto-activates when meleeing attacking zombies, comes with five activations.

Kill Joy
Spawns an Instakill power up. Player activated, comes with two activations.

Killing Time
All zombies freeze in place for 20 seconds. If they are shot, they will be annihilated when the time is up. Player activated, comes with one activation.

Using Dr. Monty’s Factory

Dr. Monty’s Factory is a new system within the Zombies menu that lets you craft Mega GobbleGums. To create a Mega GobbleGum, you must use Vials of Liquid Divinium, a new crafting material that can be earned by completing Zombies matches. Alternately, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Vials of Liquid Divinium can also be acquired with Call of Duty Points—a new in-game currency introduced earlier this month. Vials of Liquid Divinium are used to power three unique vats, each capable of producing Mega GobbleGums. For one Vial of Liquid Divinium, you can power up the first vat and create a Mega GobbleGum, meanwhile for two Vials you can use the second vat and get a better chance at receiving a rare Mega GobbleGum. For three Vials, however, the third vat will give you the best chance at receiving a rare Mega GobbleGum.

After unlocking Mega GobbleGums in Dr. Monty’s Factory, you can add them to one of your customizable GobbleGum packs and reap the benefits in Zombies.

Here are some more nifty gobble gum related tips you should add:

-Should one use the "Anywhere but here" gobble-gum too early in the game before too many doors are opened, there's a chance you'll simply be teleported to less then a few feet from where you're standing. This is particularly evident in the first room on "The Giant".

-If one takes the tram in shadows of evil and used the "Anywhere but here" gobble-gum mid-ride, the player will leave the train and be given a short period of running time in which they can grab any item they wish. However once the tram doors open at whatever destination it was meant to go to, you will instantly be transported back to the interior of the train, any gum, perks, and guns you got in the mean time in tow.

-Alchemical Antithesis does give you ammo for every 10 points HOWEVER, it also means there will be NO points given to YOU until the timer hits zero. Use at your own expense.

-Should the final dog be killed by the burn effect of a "Burned out" gobble gum, the dog will not produce a max ammo as it otherwise would do.

-With the release of "Der Eisendrache" there will be four new Mega Gumballs introduced into the mix. Their exact mechanics are yet to be determined.

Thanks for that I will add them now, I never thought about trivia actually about what the GobbleGums too. I am also going to add those four when they come out and any subsequent ones in the future.

Good on you @Nightmare Voyager for putting all the work in for this. If anyone has any new tips or anything not mentioned in the guide that you think should be, be sure to speak up, I'm sure nightmare will be updating regularly. +1 for how extensive and well done this is

Yeah, nice and clean looking.

In SoE forum, i did a GobbleGum Talk thread, where some of the trivial stuff of the GG is discussed.

So to anyone, read that as well or copy/paste any good info here.

Updated June 2016

I've played a ridiculous amount (of SoE and DE 360), so here's some advice to heed or ignore;

-

Perkaholic: extends solo games beyond the 3 quick revive. But, don't waste them on mp games unless you never play solo. Unquenchable will get you that 5th+ Perk(s) if you need it. Edit: i recommend using the 3 QR up before you ever grab a Perkaholic, since each Perkaholic counts as a QR use.

-

Aftertaste: yes, it sucks early, so don't take it from the machine until those few rounds that it lasts will be long rounds, like 40+ (or whenever you tend to die, if lower or higher than that). Note that it won't return your QR (possibly if CP revives you it could).

-

Wall power: pap can be open early, points are plentiful, so unless you are playing without pap, these are going to be dead draws in late games, so avoid them.

-

I'm feeling lucky: may give perk bottle drop for free perk.

-

Immolation liquidation: 3 fire sale at the time of your choosing is excellent. Communicate this to the team so they can get near a ?Box.

-

Arsenal accelerator: Works well with Alternate Ammo effect, Apothicon Servant, and regular killing. Currently, it doesn't work well with the Bows.

-

Killing Time: the zombies are like walls until they die, use carefully so as not to trap yourself or block the way to a downed player.

-

Cache back: great for high round mp games. Avoid taking it early as max ammos are plentiful. Solo, use Alchemical Antithesis instead (or in addition to AA, or use flag step Max Ammo).

-

Pop shocks: margwa/panzer instakill.

-

Phoenix Up; It will not pick up players that were down, if you pull it from the machine after they are down.

-

Licensed contractor: pointless in SoE with most windows having no barriers. Gives 600 points though, 1200 with an active x2 drop.

-

Anywhere but here!: Respawn nearer to downed players, past their zombies, or leave special area like Rocket Pad.

Lucky crit: placebo at best. 1+ round? Awful. Update: after more testing, this is still useless.

-

Danger closest: you know who you are that want this. Otherwise, it's just crap.

Ok, just noticed that you mentioned the thing about opening doors with "Anywhere but here" twice. Just thought I should point that out.

Also, it MIGHT be worth mentioning the thing about the "On the house" and "Feeling Lucky" gobble gums and how they MIGHT be the reason perk drop spawn on the giant.

Then if a player uses the "Stock Power" gobble gum, and uses a rocket launcher, the rocket has the ability to constantly fire off without reloading, giving a fantastical show of blasts that lags the game somewhat.

There may also be a connection between the "In plain sight" gumball, and monkeys. From what little info I've picked up from reddit, it appears you can't have the gumball in your possession, then get monkeys from the box. However, it is possible to have monkeys and then get the gumball. But this isn't solid proof yet.

Aside from that, 3 days left until you update this again ^_^

FOUR NEW GOBBLEGUMS ARRIVE WITH CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS 3 AWAKENING

In Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Awakening*, Treyarch’s Zombies saga continues with Der Eisendrache. Picking up where The Giant bonus map left off, Der Eisendrache will bring Takeo, Richtofen, Nikolai, and Dempsey to a medieval castle in the Austrian mountains, where mystery and the undead hordes await.

Players won’t go unaided in their fight for survival—Awakening introduces new tools for dispatching zombies, including a brand new set of GobbleGums. There are four new GobbleGums in total, which can be crafted in Dr. Monty’s Factory and can be used not only in Der Eisendrache, but also Shadows of Evil and The Giant bonus map. Learn more about each and see them in action below:

I will have a look at them and add relevant information soon, along with the four new GobbleGums, although I would need pictures of them.

Are we sure that Dr. Monty was a member of Group 935? Takeo mentions that Gobblegum is an American creation when buying it on The Giant.

Well, Gumballs in real life, I believe were created by Americans, which is probably what Takeo is referring to.

It looks like either: a guy sipping a test tube, and there is a crowd behind him.

Or: a guy hiding a test tube behind his back from the crowd.

Maybe it makes clones of you like the specialist ability? Maybe the crowd is the clones?

Why his face is blue and why there is a moon, i can't say.

Private Eyes, it is basically a cut GobbleGum that was also found in the Beta and may be in DLC that had effects like Vulture Aid Elixir, although I cannot remember which ones.

All DLC 1 GobbleGums have been added. I just want to shout out @PINNAZ because he got me the pictures of the GobbleGum. Speaking of which, the images have gone funny but I will try to fix it at some point.

Got another couple for you @Nightmare Voyager

Using the "Anywhere but here" GG during the "Back-in-time" easter-egg step on Der Eisendrache will cause you to teleport, but only after the back-in-time sequence has completed it's self.

When using the fatal contraption gobble gum, it's possible to quickly push Y or Triangle on console versions of the game (at least) to swap weapons BEFORE obtaining the death machine. Doing this will cause the game to glitch and will save the death machine into your inventory. Simply push Y again to wip it out. NOTE: The timer still runs down while the gun is in your inventory.
