Hi All, Sorry for the short notice, we are going to experience some downtime in aproximately 8 hours time. We have scheduled an upgrade to the MySQL server to bring us upto date with the current version. This is necessary as the current version is now EOL (End of Life) - when you visit the site, you will be presented with a MySQL driver error as the site cannot find the database, this is because we need to stop the SQL server to process the update. This is scheduled to take place at 8am GMT, 12am PST, 3am EST - apologies for the inconvience whilst we make sure we are current and upto date with all server related aspects. We shouldn't need any further planned downtime for while after this.

It's for 2 reasons to be honest @the_clay_bird - large signatures are pet peave and most people hate them. They are taken up to much real estate, so we need to reduce them. No one has complained about them persay, we have decided to reduce them though. Secondly, we are thinking of the future as well, I can't say too much but we are getting prepared to make sure we are in a good position now for future releases and updates to forum software and trying to reduce page load times by reducing the content as much as possible within signatures, If you want use spoilers within a signature that's fine.

@right_direct Thanks for coming back, you could go blue by making a donation if you fancied? The previous groups were all removed and condensed a bit, we have only recently introduced the veterans group which is for ex staff and the legends group which is for members with outstanding contributions to the site. Unfortunately no other groups are available at this stage.

I've fixed the formatting for it, I've also enabled HTML posting for this forum, the problem with it was it would appear to have been copied and pasted from another forum or editing system. The bbcode is not in use on this forum system and we use a more a "robust" bbcode parsing system. Anyway, I've edited it a little have a look and edit it further if you need to.

Remember, we have already paid for the map irrespective of the map being reskinned or not. DLC should be for new downloadable content, not reworks of previous maps (unless free). So as you all know by now we have recovered the old asylum, research & training facility. Unfortunately the usernames all have the prefix of guest_ and the suffix of _* - so I have done a fair bit of working and testing on this before bring it onto the live site and since it was brought over to the live site. Changing the guest_username_* to just the username - it's too big a task to align, it will take a lot of work on a per post/user basis and it is simply not going to happen. So what we have done is removed the guest_ prefix and the _* suffix so that the members name is displayed, it will still show the name as a "guest" name, in that you cannot select it, however if you copy the name and search it in the member database you will be able to see more info about the poster if need be. I'm sorry that it's come to this, I really wanted to marry them all up correctly but the task is massive and would take too long to implement and no guarantee of it working. So we are leaving it as is, the main thing is we have the "lost" forums back here and don't need to switch between here and vBulletin. On another note, the vBulletin forum directory is no more and the phpbb directory are no more. The databases still exist but the directories have been removed.

In my humble opinion, yes. I played extinction for the first time this week (Point of Contact) and it was awful, it's just pointless. I even did the lol easter egg and I was like, seriously? Thankfully I never paid for the game, well I did, the boy bought it and when I realised he had spent £60/$100 of my money I went nuts at him and Microsoft kindly refunded the game and another purchase he had made. Still have the full game as well which is a bonus, wasn't overly impressed with multiplayer and as for extinction, I have just one question, Why?

Signature change now effective, maximum image size 300x300 and max amount of lines with a signature now set at 10 lines. (we are reviewing the width to potentially increased this to full width 1143px) If you notice that your signature is broken, you will need to go to edit profile and select signatures.

Changes to signatures are going to be implemented tomorrow, please make sure to update signatures, no more than 10 lines. So if you need to resize pictures or reduce the amount of images within sig, please do so now.

These changes haven't come into force yet, they will be coming into force very very soon. Minimal changes have been made so far and make things less cluttered, yes the signature areas look cluttered as they are but that's changing.

I've started to clearn up the imported vBulletin stuff and correcting the topic starter and last poster information to clean things up a bit.

Read my post bud, sorry if it sounds snippy. That's the recovered asylum and the sub forums for asylum etc - I know it's general zombie discussion but that's the main forum and sub forums which have been imported to preserve data.

First and foremost, sorry. The plan was to do some maintenance and improvements and then bring the site back online. As you can guess, it failed. I'll explain what happened in laymans terms. Basically what happened was we wanted to update apache, apache runs the http service and we wanted to update the version of php that we run to the most up to date version. When running the apache update, an error message appeared quite quickly indicating that we had exceeded disk quota and it failed, it's supposed to revert back to the most recent working configuration but failed to restart, Upon investigation it was evident that the "inodes" had maxed out causing the disk quota warning. So what are inodes, in laymans terms, anytime you had a file to server, it uses one inode. We have 1,000,000 (1 million) available inodes and every single one of them had been used. Until we could free those inodes we couldn't attempt the apache restart again (would have just failed). Well it failed anyway, a problem with syntax within a file called httpd.conf - only no syntax error existed. We also then had further errors with modules not being found as part of the update to apache and it failing and also caused the http service to fail on restart. Bottom line is, we had to go to the host and raise a ticket for investigation. This was resolved about 2 hours ago, however, we have remained offline to do some further checks & final preparation work. So what was the maintenance? To update apache to the most recent version To update php to the most recent version To bring the asylum back To get the streams system working correctly UoTM archive completed (some users who where missing may receive a notifcation that they received UoTM for June, please ignore). Review and reduce disk usage I'm pleased to say, that all of these are now working and yes, the asylum is back "sort of". When I say "sort of" it is back in all it's glory, the only problem that exists and any topics or posts will show guest before the username, why? This is quite simple really, I don't want to import the members from the vBulletin forum as it will duplicate them and causes a lot more work. So what we will do is slowly manually changes the topic starters and posters to the member ID that we all have. The streams service will correctly update and show streams online, how many are viewing etc and you can see this in the live streams sidebar or from the main link. Again, we are sorry for this but on the bright side, we have been able to resolve a few outstanding issues and we have been able to reduce our overall disk usage even further. Thanks Craig P.S. I've updated the donation amount for this month as we had a package change to give us more disk quota, we are good to reduce it back but this month we'll keep the package on the upgraded one for the time being.

OK, so it happens when using the quick reply function, when using the advance editor it doesn't happen. Technically the quick reply isn't refreshing page so it's not loading the medals - not a bug.

Not sure what is happening exactly, so this is just a test post @swappingspit the medals will display with or without a signature.

I'll check but not sure they offer an API service - will check and find out.
