For the line "But until it crashes and the atom smashes all our minds will just fade away" There's one thing you forgot to mention. I think it's a reference to the rockets hitting Earth. An Atomic bomb works by... Well... Smashing atoms, which causes an enormous explosion, which is pretty much what happened to Earth. And maybe it hints to what happened to the original characters, their minds faded away? Are they zombies now?
